The gears are turning and plans are in the works to build a new City Hall in Tehachapi. The current City Hall building is getting too small and has poorly ventilated server rooms.
Are you familiar with the new locations proposed for the new Tehachapi City Hall building? If you aren’t you should learn more about the two locations and the benefits of each. One proposed location is at the corner of Valley Blvd. & Curry St. The building would be located within a shopping center.
The second location is proposed to be in Capital Hills near the post office and hospital. Before you decide which location you think is better read these documents then cast your vote.

If you haven’t stopped in at the new deli in Old Town Tehachapi, Edelweiss, you really should. They offer Boar’s Head deli meats. These deli meats are a taste sensation and they are free of all the bad stuff…no fillers, no by-products or anything artificial. I tried them over at a friends and made a special stop on grocery day just to get a couple pounds of the meet.
I was pleasantly surprised by the interior. It’s spacious, clean and friendly. There are large tables to sit at while you enjoy your food, you can buy some European foods to take home and the service is friendly too. I haven’t eaten one of the sandwiches or scrumptious sounding salads but I will soon and be sure to tell how it is if someone doesn’t beat me to it.

Many are still questioning whether or not Stephen Colbert is joking about his run for the presidency in 2008. From the looks of his website, http://www.stephencolbert08.com/it appears that yes he is running.
Quite honestly, I think the fact that he is really running is hysterical and at the same time I’m quite relieved. There is somebody on the ballet who can do the job and be true to his country… I think I’d vote for him.
See it for yourself on this video clip.
On the downside there is an article over at ABC News about his current sponsorships from his comedy show violates election laws.

Everywhere I go, I read about how many people want a Trader Joe’s in Tehachapi. Although I am very fond of this idea, I’m afraid to say that the chances of this happening are about slim to none because Tehachapi sits right in the middle of two Trader Joe’s that habituate in Palmdale and Bakersfield.
This is so sad because if you look at the Los Angeles region, there are tons of Trader Joe’s stores…people don’t have to drive an hour to get to one. But Tehachapi is growing and with all of us stocking up at Trader Joe’s on a monthly basis our population may exceed what the Trader Joe’s in Bakersfield can handle and then they will build one here. (the checker at TJ’s aksed if I was feeding a small army…I replied that I lived in Tehachapi. He commented that all Tehachapians wipe out their store…ha ha!)

Are you looking for reliable, responsible in home child care for your infant, toddler or school age child in the Tehachapi area? Hours are flexible and rates are competitive. Call for an appointment to view the in-home atmosphere your child will experience and enjoy. Our home is located off of Valley & Curry for convenient pick-up / drop-off.
I am only accepting two children in order to maintain a very small group atmosphere so hurry and reserve a spot now!

On October 8th the City of Tehachapi is holding a public workshop regarding building sites for a new city hall and community center. My first thought about this is why move city hall? Tehachapi just finished remodeling downtown, including Robinson St. where the city hall building stands. Many towns keep their city hall in the original buildings they have been in because there are so many other better things to do with city money when the town is growing. If they move city hall what will become of the old building….will it just sit vacant?
As far as a community center, why are they proposing to build the community center in conjuction with the new city hall building? With the future growth of Tehachapi looking exponentially larger over the coming decades (walmart is coming, home depot is already here, the Orchard shopping center plus another off of 202/Woodford), maybe the community center should be a stand alone building of its own. Although I am excited to hear about a community center, I’m nervous to see what the city has in mind since it seems they have some odd design ideas.
Once again, the city employees have scheduled this meeting for a Monday night at 6p.m. Probably the most inconvenient time for the general population of the United States. But I am definitely going to this workshop and I’m taking my children with me. If comments will be heard about this, I’d like to first here what the city is proposing and be prepared to share my concerns.

Do you have items in your house you would like to get rid of but don’t have the time to have a yard sale. Ebay is a great place to get rid of your unwanted items. Often you can get higher prices for them than you would from listing them in the Pennysaver and you don’t have to field the phone calls or have people come to your house. Read more…

I have an antique gas cook stove made by Bridge, Beach and Company. (1910-1915)
It is white enamel with nickel trim and needs restoration. The stove is complete except for one small latch that holds one of the doors shut, a small & simple part.
It has six burners a spice rack, 3 ovens and a warming oven. The knobs and handles are the original wood handles. When it was taken out of the last house it was in, it was working. Contact 823.8163
