If you’re down in the valley at all this weekend or out in the desert.. be advised the temperatures are expected to hit 105+.  Kern County is opening several cooling centers for relief for anyone who needs it.  You can read more about it at KERO 23.

The Tehachapi cooling center is not scheduled to be open this weekend..  for a full list of cooling centers and their availability this weekend visit the Kern County Website.



Tehachapi California Residents Outraged by Deer Poaching

Two men were arrested by Kern County Sheriffs after Tehachapi California residents in the Woodford-Tehachapi Rd area complained of gunfire and the illegal shooting a doe out of season. The men were actually charged with several offenses including possession of a concealed weapon.

Wiener Dog Races!

Think your wiener dog is fast? Come test their speed against other wiener dogs from around the area at 11 am on July 4, 2009, as part of the 10th Annual July 4th Hotdog Festival. Sponsored by Canine Creek Dog Wash and Boutique and the City of Tehachapi, the First Annual Weiner Run will be a fun-filled event for the whole family. Registration is $10.00 per dog prior to July 1, 2009, and cash prizes will be awarded to the winners. Registration forms can be obtained at Canine Creek Dog Wash and Boutique located at 538 East Tehachapi Boulevard or online at www.tehachapicityhall.com.

Downtown Summer Wine Walk

26 Downtown Businesses will host the 1st Annual Summer Wine Walk in Historic Downtown Tehachapi. Musicians will be placed throughout downtown to entertain you while you stroll with your friends and loved ones.

Admission: $20.00 each in advance; $25.00 day of the event.

Main Street will have an after party with a DJ after the event until 11:30 PM free of charge.
